Description
Hello, my name is Sunita, and I am Joyce Alisha’s mother. Today, I come to you with a heavy heart but full of hope because I believe there are good people in the world—people who can help us save my daughter’s life.
Joyce Alisha is the light of my life, but she is going through a pain that no mother should ever have to witness. She developed a rare and terrible disease called EB Blistering, which has caused her immense suffering.
EB Blistering, or epidermolysis bullosa, is a genetic blistering skin disease that causes the skin to blister and peel off, creating extreme pain and, in its most severe forms, can lead to death. In Joyce Alisha’s case, her skin is extremely fragile and prone to severe damage. Even the slightest friction, pressure, or heat can cause life-threatening blisters and skin loss. The pain she endures is unimaginable and often cannot be fully controlled with the strongest medications available.
Why is there no cure for this condition?
Genetic mutation – EB is caused by a gene mutation that creates a very weak bond between the skin layers in the epidermis and dermis. This makes the skin extremely fragile and prone to blistering and tearing.
Chronic pain – Patients with EB suffer from intense and persistent pain, requiring constant medication for relief.
High risk of infection – The open wounds and blisters create a perfect environment for bacteria and other pathogens to invade, leading to serious infections that can spread throughout the body.
Severe complications – In its most severe forms, EB can lead to widespread infections, organ failure, and even death. Many children with severe EB do not live to celebrate their first birthday.
Why does treatment need to be continuous?
Since there is no definitive cure for EB, treatment must be constant and lifelong. This includes:
Daily wound care – Special bandages and dressings are needed to protect the skin and prevent infections.
Pain management – Strong medications are required to help manage the chronic pain.
Nutritional support – Proper nutrition is essential to aid in healing and overall health.
Reconstructive surgeries – In some cases, surgeries are needed to improve the function and appearance of the affected skin.
Continuous medical monitoring – Regular check-ups are necessary to prevent life-threatening complications.
Without continuous treatment, the condition can worsen, leading to severe infections, organ failure, and even the risk of death.
Every day, I see my daughter fighting to survive. Her skin requires special bandages, expensive medications, and medical foods that I simply cannot afford on my own. Every night, I pray for the strength to care for her, but I know I cannot do it alone. I need you.
Joyce Alisha needs you.
She lives wrapped in bandages like a little warrior, but the pain she feels is immense. I see the hope in her eyes even as tears roll down her face. She asks me, “Mommy, one day I will get better, won’t I?” And I promise her that yes, we will find a cure, we will overcome this together. But to do that, we need the help of people like you.
We have created a fundraising campaign through the Heart Giving Association, and every donation, no matter how small, makes a huge difference. With the money raised, we will be able to buy the medical supplies Joyce Alisha needs to survive while researchers search for a cure for her disease.
I beg you: don’t let my daughter suffer alone.
Donate monthly: Your regular contribution will ensure that Joyce Alisha has access to everything she needs to keep fighting.
Share our story: Every share is a chance to reach more people who can help us.
Send your prayers and words of support: Knowing that there are people cheering for us gives us the strength to continue.
I know the world can be a difficult place, but I also know it is full of kindness. I have seen it in the eyes of those who have already helped us, and I believe you can be part of this chain of goodness, too.
Please, don’t ignore this plea.
Joyce Alisha is counting on you.
I am counting on you.
“May God bless each and every one of you for your generosity and compassion. Thank you for helping us keep the hope of a better future for my daughter alive.”
— With all my love, Sunita, Joyce Alisha’s mother.
